On March 1, troopers from the Michigan State Police Alpena Post witnessed a dirt bike crash on County Road 451 in Presque Isle County.

An 87-year-old man was walking across the street with a flashlight to his mailbox when a juvenile operating a motorized dirt bike without a headlight traveling northbound on the same side of the road collided with the elderly man.

The 87-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital, and on March 5, the man succumbed to those injuries, according to a Tuesday press release from MSP.

The driver of the dirt bike did not sustain any injuries.
