MSP Sgt. Hilborn retires after 29 years of service
After 29 years of service, Sgt. Jerry Hilborn will be retiring from the Michigan State Police effective Monday, according to a Thursday press release.
His first post assignment was at the Alpena Post as a trooper where he served the citizens of Alpena from 1996 to 2003.
In 2003, he was promoted to sergeant of the Seventh District Reconstruction Unit and still serves in that capacity. Hilborn spent much of his career investigating serious and fatal traffic crashes, bringing closure to families who have lost loved ones.
Hilborn plans to enjoy his family and friends in retirement, the press release said.
