Police seek more info after man scammed by fraudulent letter
On Feb. 18, a 68-year-old Rogers City man received a fraudulent letter that appeared to be from Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union, the Michigan State Police said in a Wednesday press release.
The victim contacted the telephone number listed on the letter and was put in contact with multiple individuals who were not associated with the Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union.
The suspect, described as an African American male, possibly 20 to 30 years old, tall/skinny build, short black hair, and wearing a black sweatshirt, black pants, and an earring, allegedly drove in a Dodge Challenger to the victim’s residence for an in-person exchange of an undisclosed amount of money.
Anyone with information is asked to call the MSP Alpena Post at 989-354-4101.
