MARION GOSSELIN
Marion Gosselin, age 90, left the darkness of her illness and entered into the light of her salvation on Jan. 29, 2020 surrounded by her loved ones.
Marion was born on Aug. 24, 1929 in Rochester, New York to the late Lewis and Helen (Keller) Warner. She graduated from Monroe High School and attended Monroe Community College before entering the workforce.
She married the red-headed love of her life, DuMont (Monte) Gosselin on April 16, 1956 after years of pursuit on his part. They relocated numerous times throughout the east coast until Monte’s death in 1984. Marion then ventured to Marquette, onto Florida, then finally settling in Alpena.
With a compassionate heart, she served God and the community throughout her life, whether as a minister’s wife, counselor, patient advocate/guardian and Hospice volunteer.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kathryn Ramirez, and Carol (Jay) Rundell, of Alpena, her five grandchildren, Amanda (Sean) McConnell, Thomas (Melissa) Ramirez Jr., Cassandra Ramirez, Jonathan Flemington and Katie Flemington, three great-grandchildren, Natalia, Lydia and Shiloh, and nephew Terry (Sue) Gates.
She was preceded in death by her husband Monte and her sister Eleanor.
Many were inspired by Marion’s courageous 40-year battle with cancer and cheered her Relay for Life. Her words of wisdom and wit charmed many and she will be remembered for graciousness, politeness and most of all, her zest for life always encouraging those around her to live their lives to the fullest and have fun while doing it.
Visitation will take place at McWilliams Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 from 6 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 7 p.m. with Rev. Bruce Michaud officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Hospice of Michigan, Alpena Civic Theatre, or the Huron Humane Society. Everyone is encouraged to wear Marion’s favorite color purple for the celebration of her life. Online condolences may be registered at www.mcwilliamsfh.com.
