DAWN ELIZABETH COLLINS
Dawn Elizabeth Collins passed away Feb. 5, 2022, at the home of her cousin Sara, surrounded by family.
She was born in Alpena, Michigan, Jan. 9, 1959, to Elizabeth (Barrie) Collins and Richard Collins. She graduated from Alpena High School in 1977. Following that, she attended Alpena Community College and Michigan State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in communications engineering. She later went on to earn a Master’s Degree in this field. For many years she worked for the State of Michigan, designing and implementing the phone and communications systems at several locations throughout the state.
Dawn was a caring person with a hearty laugh who touched many throughout her life. A good sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
She is survived by her sisters, Tecla Jill Fisher and Collyn (Dan) Fowler; her nephews, Brach, Garrett, and Spencer Fisher, niece, Macey Pumfrey; her stepmother, Nancy (Bill) Yahne, aunt, Ann Gudum, as well as many extended family members and friends. Her parents and brother Rec (Richard) predeceased her.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service is planned for May 21, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Hillman Rust Cemetery in Hillman, Michigan. Family and friends are invited to meet following the service at the home of Chris and Sara Oravitz, 17820 Avalon Drive, Hillman, Michigan. Lunch will be served.
