MICHAEL MOULDS
Moulds, Michael
12/27/1949 — 2/13/2023
Pierson,
Michigan.
A gentle soul and bright spirit left us on Feb. 13 when Michael “Mike” Moulds, age 73, of Pierson, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly.
He will be dearly missed by his many family members and friends, but by none more than his beloved girls, to whom he was totally devoted: wife Marie Bauer-Moulds, daughters Leah (Moulds) Kubiak & Lindsay Moulds, and the granddaughter who stole his heart, Kyah Kubiak.
Mike is also survived by his brothers Marty Moulds and wife Christine, Matthew Moulds and wife Cheryl, Malcom Moulds and wife Michele, and his sister Anne (Moulds) Lewandowski and husband Robert, as well as several dozen other family members with whom he enjoyed a special closeness. He was preceded in death by his father Floyd Moulds, and his mother Helen Moulds.
Born Dec. 27, 1949, Mike grew up outside Alpena, Michigan, and graduated from Alpena High School in 1969. Mike was in the Army Infantry in 1970 and 1971 where he served with distinction as a scout in Vietnam and was seriously injured. He was recognized for his bravery with a purple heart and a special commendation.
Following his Army career Mike graduated with a B.A. from Grand Valley State Colleges. He began his career in Grand Rapids as an entrepreneur in the construction and rental property industry, followed by many years helping others during stints at Kentwood Little Alternative School, the Grand Rapids YWCA, and Pine Rest Mental Health Services. Mike completed his career at the main Grand Rapids Post Office, where he was well known and respected for his work as the Quality Work Life Coordinator. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, travel, photography and frequent camp-outs with his buddies, the Full Moon Campers.
He enjoyed life to the fullest and brought energy and positivity wherever he went. If he were still here today, he would give us all a hug to ease the pain of his loss. He hugged everybody; it was his trademark. Mike has been cremated; there will be an informal outdoor celebration of his life this summer. If you wish to honor Mike, the family suggests a donation to your favorite charity, or just think of him next time you are outside on a beautiful day or a starlit night. Those were his happy places.
