RANDY ALLEN REINHOLZ

Randy Reinholz

Oct. 7, 1951 – July 27, 2024

Randy Allen Reinholz, 72, of Hubbard Lake passed away on July 27, 2024 at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Randy was born on Oct. 7, 1951 in Bay City, Michigan. The family moved to Ossineke in 1953 and settled in Hubbard Lake a few years later. Randy graduated from Alpena High School in 1969. He served in Vietnam shortly after high school, earning a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service and Vietnam Campaign Medals and Sharpshooter (rifle).

After returning to the States, Randy lived briefly in Indiana before returning to Michigan. Randy worked construction most of his life and was a skilled block layer. In his later years he worked for Wayne Liske construction, and anyone hearing him, and Wayne insult each other would never doubt the friendship they shared.

In 1980 Randy’s son Bill was born. Bill and Randy shared a special bond, spending Sunday afternoons watching Nascar.

On March 20, 2010 Randy married Sheryl Roy. Sherry took excellent care of Randy through his entire illness and was a devoted wife and caregiver.

Randy was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and took several trophy bucks, winning the Hubbard Lake Buck pole in 2014. Randy also enjoyed cutting firewood and selling it as a hobby, and betting on his daily “numbers.”

Randy was a member of VFW Chapter 6754 in Spruce, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 583, Disabled American Veterans Thunder Bay Chapter 61, and the Gaylord Eagles Chapter 1825.

Randy is survived by his wife Sherry, his son Bill Reinholz, his mother Jane Reinholz, siblings Joann, Viki, Barb, Tim and special sister-in-law Cory, stepsons, Leroy Krentz and Derek Krentz, many nieces and nephews, and extended family. Randy was preceded in death by his father, Hank Reinholz.

A memorial service for Randy will be held on Aug. 15, 2024 at Hope Lutheran Church with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. and the service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Bryan Salminen officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the VFW Post 2496 and the U.S. Army beginning at 1 p.m.

The family would like to thank Dr. Hitzelberger, the nursing staff at the Alpena Cancer Center, and Hospice of Michigan.
