LYNN MARIE HORNYAK

Lynn Marie Hornyak, born Jan. 11, 1959, died unexpectedly Oct. 2, 2024, at Corewell Health – Beaumont, Michigan.
Lynn graduated from Alpena High School in 1977 and Alpena Community College in 1979. She received her B.S. degree and Masters from Central Michigan University. Lynn continued her education at Lansing Community College where she received her Dental Hygiene degree and taught dental hygiene there at the college. Also, she was appointed to the Michigan State Board of Dentistry by Governor Jennifer Granholm.
Lynn married James Hornyak, on Feb. 5, 2011. Lynn and James moved to Cottonwood, Arizona, where they enjoyed the desert living. Lynn taught dental hygiene at Phoenix College until they moved back to their home state of Michigan. They found a beautiful place to live in Ossineke surrounded by acres of wilderness and nature. Lynn was an avid reader who loved to feed the birds each morning along with her dog Bear. She also enjoyed planting many flowers and vegetables in her newly built raised garden.
Lynn joins her father, Dr. Ronald J. Beatty, and her brother, Paul, who both passed away in January 2020. Lynn was a person of faith and lived her life helping others.
Lynn leaves behind her husband, Jim; two stepdaughters, Kristie (Kevin) Conroy, Jennifer Hornyak; three grandchildren, Ryann, Ty, Evan; daughter to Valerie Beatty of Alpena; sister to Elizabeth Hobgood of Florida and Robert Beatty of Arizona; aunt to Olivia Hobgood of Alaska; and aunt to Matt and Ramone of Hawaii, Dan Beatty of Nevada, David Beatty of California, and James Beatty of Tennessee. She also leaves behind her faithful dog companion, Bear who was always at her side.
Bannan Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. A private family service has taken place.
