DELORIS ROSE SZUMILA

Deloris Rose Szumila, 86, of Alpena, passed away Friday Nov. 1, 2024, at her home surrounded by family.

Deloris was born July 24, 1938, to the late Wilbur and Eunice (Cousineau) McKay. She worked at a potato farm in Posen for many years. She was a member of All Saints of Alpena Parish. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts and sewing clothes for dolls. She enjoyed canning food, picking berries, and cake decorating. Deloris enjoyed her time playing bingo and doing puzzles. She loved shopping but loved a great bargain even more.

Surviving are eight children, Robert Szumila, Julie (Scott) Duby, William (Pam) Szumila, Edward (Laurie) Szumila, Steven Szumila, Patricia (Bernard) Purol, Karl (Ruth) Szumila, Michael (Lori) Szumila; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Charles McKay, Ronald (Christine) McKay, and Arlene LaMay; several nieces and nephews.

Deloris was preceded in death by three siblings, James McKay, Murdick McKay, and David McKay; one grandson, Brett Szumila.

Visitation will take place at Bannan Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at noon with Deacon Michael Roy officiating.

Interment: Evergreen Cemetery
