ALBERT GRZESKOWIAK

Albert (Al) Grzeskowiak, 77, of Alpena, died on Monday, Dec. 23, 2024, days before his 78th birthday, Dec. 27, 1946, surrounded by his family. The youngest child of John and Eva (Sylvester) Grzeskowiak. On Nov. 27, 1971, he married the love of his life, Gayle Adams.
Albert graduated from Alpena High School in 1967. He proudly served in the United States Army for two years, most of that time in Vietnam (1967-1969). He held a variety of jobs over the years including working for Shell Oil Company and owning Al’s Westside Carpet Cleaning. Albert retired from his bus driving position at Alpena Public Schools in 2010. Albert was a beloved driver of countless kids for 24 years. His bus kids always held a special place in his heart. Albert enjoyed morning coffee with a special group of guys for over 30 years. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. They affectionately called him “Bubba.” He enjoyed spending time with them and teaching them things. Albert was always ready with a joke and a smile. He had many friends and touched many lives.
Surviving are his wife Gayle of 53 years and two daughters; Angela (Ken) Hague and Jennifer (Tom Hundley) Grzeskowiak; three grandchildren that he loved dearly, Breck McDonald, Rylan (Susan Kuznicki) McDonald, and Kinsey Hague. Albert is survived by his brother William Grzeskowiak and sister, Frances Mahalak; sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Grzeskowiak, Diana Grzeskowiak, Linda Wascher, and many nieces and nephews.
Albert was preceded in death by his nine siblings; Walter Grzeskowiak, Louis Grzeskowiak, Anthony Grzeskowiak, Rose Elliott, John Grzeskowiak, Eva Chrzan, George Grzeskowiak, Robert Grzeskowiak, Joseph Grzeskowiak, infant siblings Florence and Bert.
Memorial visitation will be held at the Bannan Funeral Home on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024, from 11 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 1 p.m. Full military honors will be accorded to him by VFW Post 2496.
