ROBERT JOSEPH WERDA

Robert Joseph Werda (Bob), 82, of Alpena, passed away peacefully, Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, surrounded by his wife and some of his loved ones, at his daughter, Yvonne’s home, in Farmington Hills.

Bob was born in Alpena on May 5, 1942, to the late Leo A. and Margaret T. (Sobek) Werda. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He married his soulmate and best friend, Connie Pokorzynski at St. Mary’s Catholic Parish, on May 27, 1967.

Bob lived in Alpena up until the final week of his life, at which point he went into hospice care with his wife Connie at his side, at their daughter and son-in-law’s home in Farmington Hills. Bob and Connie were long-time members of All Saint’s Parish.

Survived by his wife Connie, of 57 years, two daughters and son-in-law, Yvonne (Todd) Woodstock, Renee Werda; six grandchildren, Jesse Yankee, Brittany Woodstock, Sybrena Woodstock, Michaela Yankee, Amanda Woodstock, Elijah Yankee; one great-grandson, Ashton Yankee; three sisters, Margie (Tony) Byers, Marilyn (Howard) Dellar, Carol Herbert; sister in law, Connie Werda and was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Werda. Also survived by a long list of beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, and some friends.

Bob has been cremated. A memorial service will be held in Alpena, in May, at All Saint’s Parish, after which time his interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
