Charles William Carriveau

Charles William Carriveau, 81, of Spruce passed away Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025, at his home.

Charles was born Oct. 14, 1943, in Alpena to the late Philip and Laura (McKenzie) Carriveau. He served two years in the United States Army stationed in Germany. On Nov. 27, 1965, he married Kathleen Green. Charles was a 4-H leader and union president for Local 318. He worked as a welder at Thunder Bay Manufacturing for 32 years, retiring in 2005. Charles was a lifetime member of Alpena VFW, member of Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, member of Ossineke Eagles 3762 and past state president.

Surviving are his wife, Kathleen Carriveau; five children, four daughters, Charlene (Frank) Oliver, Christine (Ben) Elowski, Cathy (Rich) Macfalda, Mary (Steve) Zann, and son, Philip (Kristin) Carriveau; 16 grandchildren, Victoria (Kyle), Justin, Vanessa (Jason), Samantha (Anthony), Shannon (Daniel), Sabrina (David), Philip, Emily, Johnathan (Jessica), Alice, Benjamin, Mark, Lauren, Sadie, Charles, Jacob; 11 great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson, who he fondly called his monkeys; one sister, Lorrine Barney; three sisters-in-law, Bonnie Carriveau, Vicki Stone, and Janet Green; and many nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his brother, James Carriveau and two sisters; Judith Adams and Linda Hawley.

Memorial visitation will take place on Tuesday at Bannan Funeral Home from 2 to 8 p.m., with military honors by Alpena VFW Post 2496 at 5 p.m., followed by Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Honor Guard at 6 p.m., with a Parish Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at St. Catherine Catholic Church of Ossineke from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Fr. Gerald Okoli officiating.
