DELORES MARGARET VAN VOLKENBURG

Delores Margaret Van Volkenburg, 88, of Lachine, passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2025.

Delores Margaret Andor was born April 29, 1936, in Spruce, to the late Mathias and Agnes (LaBonte) Andor. On March 29, 1958, she married Gary Van Volkenburg. She graduated with honors from Alpena Community College with summa cum laude. She was a teacher in Ortonville, Michigan for two years until she started teaching at Alpena Public Schools and retiring in 1993 after 37.5 years of teaching. She loved to go camping, traveling, fishing, reading and doing crafts.

Surviving are her husband, Gary Van Volkenburg of 66 years; two children, Cheryl (Daniel) Wozniak, Jeffery (Ruth) Van Volkenburg; five grandchildren; Jessica Brown, Kyle (Leah) Van Volkenburg, Laura Van Volkenburg, Michael Segorski, Lisa Segorski; 15 great-grandchildren; Carisa, Annica, Kerry, Oliver, Casey, Jake, Mya, Isaiah, Jensen, Adalyn, Karsen, Damian, Lucas, Kaitlyn, Emma; one brother, Robert (Judy) Andor; two nieces and two nephews.

Visitation will take place on Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, at Bannan Funeral Home from noon until the time of funeral service at 2 p.m. with Deacon Michael Roy officiating.

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery
