LUCINDA MAY ATKINSON

Lucinda (Cindy) May Atkinson, 80, of Lachine, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025, at Medilodge of Alpena.

Cindy was born on June 7, 1944, and married Charles Atkinson on Sept. 23, 1977. She was a long-time resident of the Long Rapids, Lachine area.

Cindy is survived by her husband, Charles Atkinson, and eight of her 10 children: Tamela (Michael Smith) of Harbor Springs; Dawna (Matthew Papin) of Alpena; Dan (Denise) Shananaquet of Lachine; Robert Nolan of Alpena; Colleen (David) Rude of Alpena; Marleen Nolan of Lachine and her partner, Don; Mary (Jay Wilson) of North Dakota; and Randall Johnson and his partner, Janice. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even a few great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her two sons, Thunder Joseph Meir and Charles Anthony (Chucky) Shananaquet, and her grandson, Parker Whitehead.

A memorial service will take place at a later date, because let’s be real, planning a party for Cindy’s life is going to take some time. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
