MICHAEL PRELL

Michael “Mike” Prell, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, at the age of 79, in Millington. Born on Feb. 15, 1945, in Alpena.

Mike spent his formative years in his hometown, graduating from Alpena High School. He went on to become a proud United States Air Force veteran, honorably serving his country during the Vietnam War. For several years, Mike worked at General Motors before retiring. Alongside his late wife Charlotte, who he cherished deeply, Mike was the owner of McKatm’s Bar in Millington, MI. Their 24-year journey in the bar business allowed them to create lasting memories and friendships within the community that they loved.

Mike treasured the great outdoors, finding joy in hunting, fishing, and golfing. Bowling and gambling were also among his interests, as well as traveling and motorcycle riding. Yet, above all, Mike’s greatest joy came from spending quality time with his family.

He leaves behind four loving children: Kimberly (Dan), Tiffany (Joe), Andrea (James), and Michael II. His five grandchildren, Brady (Shannon), Shianne, Drayton, Kadie Sue, and Kinsley, along with his great-grandson Dominic. Mike is also survived by his two brothers, Ronald (Cathy) and Greg (Vaughn), and two sisters, Jeanne (Perry) and Aleta. As well as his buddy Scott.

Mike was preceded in death by his devoted wife Charlotte, who passed away in July 2021, and a brother, Robert Gregory.

Funeral services for Mike will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, at Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington; visitation begins at 11 a.m. and lasts until the time of service. Graveside services & military funeral honors to follow in Millington Twp. Cemetery.
