DONALD E. LaFAVE

Donald E. LaFave, 76, of Black River, passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025.

Born Feb. 17, 1948, to Edward and Yvonne (Potvin) LaFave in Black River, he was a lifelong resident of the area. On Feb. 6, 1981, he married Sharon Marschner in Bay City. Don owned and operated LaFave Excavating for many years, and retired in 2002. He loved hunting, and riding his Gator. He enjoyed reading the newspaper, and scrapping metal.

Don is survived by his wife, Sharon, three stepchildren, Laura LeClair, Harvey John (Leann) Hanner Jr., and Terry (Harry) Skiba, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, five siblings, Scott (Laurie) LaFave, Duane (Faith) LaFave, Darryl (Hope) LaFave, Jim (Marsha) LaFave, and Deetta (Jeff) Campbell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his stepson, Kenneth Stone, and four siblings, Barry LaFave, Kim LaFave, Lois LaVergne, and Janet LaFave.

Mr. LaFave is at Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln, where visitation will be Friday, Feb. 21, 2025 from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at 3 p.m. A meal will follow at the Alcona Township Hall in Black River.
