GARY LEE ALLEN

GARY LEE ALLEN
March 13, 1946 – Feb. 19, 2025
Gary Lee Allen, passed away peacefully on Feb. 19, 2025, at the age of 78 in Alpena, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on March 13, 1946, in Midland.
Gary’s journey began as the beloved son of Glen and Aletha Allen, who preceded him in death, along with his son, Kenneth Allen and nephew, Andrew Allen. His legacy continues through his devoted wife, Marsha Allen, and their loving children, Kimberlie (Vaughn) Konrath, Lisa Melhorn, Amanda (Jake) Martell, Lenn (Trina) Goeke, and Melinda (John) Spendow. His brother, Kim (Mary Ann) Allen, also survives him, sharing in the family’s cherished memories. Gary’s joy was multiplied by his adoring grandchildren, Mindy, Kendra, Eric, Trinity, Harmony, Kenny, and Christopher, who will carry forward his spirit of curiosity and love of life. After graduating from high school, Gary transported logs and stone with the semi for Glawe, and he enjoyed working as a crane operator for the Fivenson scrapyard. His years of service were marked by a strong work ethic and a reputation for reliability.
Gary’s interests were as varied as they were passionate. He was a man who loved the outdoors, finding peace and contentment in camping and boating. He enjoyed reading and watching things about home-steading lifestyle and living off the grid, but never got the chance to actually do it himself, this was a true expression of his interest in being self-sufficient and resourceful. Gary had a natural talent for tinkering, driven by an insatiable curiosity about how things worked. His love for coffee was matched only by his love for storytelling, where he could often be found sharing tales of his adventures or the intricacies of a recent project. Tractor pulls were a favorite pastime, where Gary’s competitive spirit and enthusiasm shone brightly. Although he was exceptionally good at woodworking, it was a skill he approached with humility, often downplaying his own talent. Those who knew Gary best would describe him as handy and creative, a man who could fix or create anything he set his mind to.
Per Gary’s wishes McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family with no services at this time.
