MARJORIE JEAN HOPPE

MARJORIE JEAN HOPPE
Nov. 13, 1928 – Feb. 26, 2025
Marjorie Jean (Kinsinger) Hoppe passed away peacefully Feb. 26, 2025, joining her beloved husband of 60 years, Victor Hoppe.
Margie — or “Nan” to her grandchildren and “Grandma from Michigan” to her great-grandchildren — married the love of her life, Victor on July 3, 1948. When most women in the ’50s were staying home to manage their households and raise their children, Margie was managing her own business while raising her two daughters, Vicki Lynn (Robert) Carlson and Linda Lee (John) Snyder.
Margie Kinsinger was born Nov. 13, 1928, and grew up on a farm in Lachine, Michigan with her parents the late John and Rosa (Richardson) Kinsinger, learning to play Hawaiian guitar, bake phenomenal pies and cookies, and teaching herself to drive at age 14. As the youngest Kinsinger, she survived sisters Blanche Leavesley, Louise Thom, Loretta Huggler, Hazel Cady, Delight Baker, and brother, Raymond Kinsinger. Following in her father’s footsteps, she attended cosmetology school, earning a 98.3 on her exam, and becoming an entrepreneur in 1953 until she retired in 2005. Margie was an accomplished bowler, a charter member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and an Alpena General Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer for many years.
The other love of Margie’s life was Grand Lake, where she enjoyed spending summers and making memories with her family, including four grandchildren Corinne (Steve Moberley) Carlson, Christopher (Matthew King) Carlson, John Snyder II, and Jessica (Eugenio) Vila as well as great-grandchildren Mina and Bianca Moberley and two surviving nephews, Ronald Cady and Matt (Denise) Kinsinger.
Margie will be remembered for her infectious (and mischievous) smile and wicked sense of humor, always leaving her family in stiches with her stories.
Visitation will take place Saturday at Bannan Funeral Home from noon until the celebration of life at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John Shipman officiating.
Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery
A memorial contribution may be given to McLaren Hospice – Alpena.
