Norma Jean Minton, 86, of Herron, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025, at her home.

Norma Jean Patrick was born Nov. 22, 1938, in Alpena to the late Roy and Josephine (Laundry) Patrick. On March 21, 1963, she married Robert Minton. The seventh child of nine, Norma worked mostly in the food industry (restaurants) starting at the age of 12. She was always a hard worker and always did her best at whatever job she did whether it was putting together and cooking for a family reunion to canning to making the best Thanksgiving Dinner which was her favorite holiday.

Norma was the best cook ever, she always made sure nobody went hungry and was always there for you when you needed her. She was definitely the glue in our family. Norma loved all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. To see them was the highlight of her day. She was a devoted wife and mother who was greatly loved. Norma was funny, loved to tell jokes and playing cards with the table full of family.

Surviving are her husband, Robert; four children, William Coburn, Carla (Charles) Beverly, Connie Coburn, Julie (James) Hilt; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother, James (Sherry) Patrick; and several nieces and nephews.

Norma was preceded in death by her son, Bryan Coburn; seven siblings, Johnny Lucas, Rosemary Hillman, Josephine Greenwalt, Genevieve Stewart, Lewey Lucas, Evelyn Lewellyn, and Karen Patrick.

Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
