RALPH STEVENS

Ralph Stevens, of Grayling, passed away on Feb. 16, 2025, at the age of 94.

He was born on Dec. 17, 1930, to Levi and Edith Stevens. He was one of 10 Stevens children, raised by Levi and Edith in Alpena.

He married Doris Rivers in 1957 and was married to her for more than 67 years. They raised six children together and enjoyed three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

While living in Grayling for over 50 years, he worked at Bear Archery and later owned Carlisle Paddles. Through the years, he served as the president of the Chamber of Commerce and was the city mayor. He was also a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church.

He greatly treasured his time with family and enjoyed golfing for many years.

He is survived by his wife Doris, sons Jim (Carol) Stevens, Jack (Janet) Stevens, Jerry Stevens (Tom Mullins) and daughters Jean (Kris) Stevens-Berry, Joan (Steve) Eddy and Joyce Stevens, three grandchildren, Leigha (Owen) Tosh, Jordyn Stevens and Jonathon Stevens, two great-grandchildren Rosa and Isaac Tosh and his sister Jane.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.

He will be dearly missed by his family.

Visitation will take place Saturday, Feb. 22, from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home in Grayling with the Reverend Elizabeth Chace officiating. Interment will be in the spring at Elmwood Cemetery.
