RUTH L. HEUSSNER

RUTH L. HEUSSNER

Jan. 24, 1932 – Feb. 11, 2025

Ruth L. Heussner, a cherished matriarch and a beacon of warmth in her community, passed away peacefully on Feb. 11, 2025, in Alpena at the age of 93. Born on Jan. 24, 1932, in Detroit, Ruth was the beloved daughter of the late Otto and Josephine (Spens) Kuehn. Her life was a testament to the power of love, family, and dedication.

Ruth’s journey began alongside her parents in Detroit, where she was raised with a strong sense of family and community. It was at St. John Lutheran Church in New Haven where she married the love of her life, Farrell Heussner, on June 30, 1956. Their union was a harmonious blend of mutual respect and shared dreams until Farrell preceded her in death on July 1, 2000.

Together, Ruth and Farrell welcomed their children into the world, creating a family legacy that would endure through the years. She was a devoted mother to Charrell Heussner, who preceded her in death, Scott Bowin, Brad (Maggie Miller) Heussner, and Kregg Heussner. Ruth’s joy was multiplied with the birth of her granddaughter, Hayli Jade Heise, who brought immense happiness and pride to her life.

Her interests were a reflection of her love for the simple pleasures in life. Ruth found solace in the hum of the mower as she cut grass, the aroma of her cooking, and the satisfaction of canning the harvest from her bountiful garden. Her love of music was a constant source of joy, and her happiest moments were spent on the boat with Farrell, feeling the breeze on her face and the gentle rocking of the waves.

Ruth’s legacy is one of enduring love and the nurturing of family bonds. Her presence was a comfort to those around her, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her. She leaves behind a family that adores her and a community that respects her. Ruth’s life was a beautiful melody of devotion, care, and unwavering love–a melody that will continue to resonate in the hearts of her loved ones forever.

Visiting hours for Ruth will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon with the Rev. Jim Erickson officiating. Memorial donations can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church. McWilliams Funeral Home has been entrusted with her care.
