Sally Ann Thomson, age 82, of Estero, Florida, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025, at Hope Hospice after a courageous 50-year battle with rheumatoid arthritis. Sally was born on Nov. 30, 1942, in Alpena, to the late Joseph and Edna (Taracks) Zielinski. Sally graduated from Alpena High School before pursuing a career as a hairstylist. She worked at Alice’s Beauty Salon, which later became known as Figurehead, and enjoyed making connections with her many clients over the years. In 1980, Sally began visiting Bonita Beach, Florida, and fell in love with the area. She became a permanent resident in 1999, where she continued to enjoy the outdoors, walking on the beach, or in the woods. Sally had a strong love for people, was social, and cherished the opportunity to travel. Sally is survived by her sister, Gloria (Thomas) Gohl of Alpena, MI; her brother, Kenneth (Marcia) Zielinski of Whitehall, MI; nieces and nephews, Todd (Tami) Zielinski of Fruitport, MI, Tonya McMillan of Portland, OR, Brian (Barbara) Gohl of Houlton, WI, and Cheryl Gohl of Alpena, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Thomson, and her parents. Funeral services will be private.
