THOMAS LEE MacKINNON

Thomas Lee “Chewie” MacKinnon, 65, of Alpena, passed away after a long heartfelt battle with cancer on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025, at his home.

Thomas was born Nov. 20, 1959, in Alpena, to Kenneth and Elaine (Wilson) MacKinnon. On June 4, 1983, he married Beth Martell. Thomas was a truck driver for 25 years at Alro Steel where he made many friends. He enjoyed metal detecting since he was 12 years old. He also enjoyed his Wednesday Friends Together group for coffee. Tom was always willing to give a helping hand to everyone that he met.

Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Beth; mother, Elaine MacKinnon; siblings, Dr. Kenneth (Karen) MacKinnon, Tammy (Mick) Buvia; several nieces and nephews.

Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth.

Memorial visitation will take place Saturday at Bannan Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until the memorial service at 2 p.m. with Deacon Michael Roy officiating.
