DAVID A. TORO

Feb. 7, 1943 – March 6, 2025

David A. Toro, 82, of Lincoln, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025 at his home.

Born Feb. 7, 1943, to Andrew and Elizabeth (Chuno) Toro in Detroit, he was raised there. On Aug. 3, 1963, he married Kathleen TeKelly in Detroit, and they were residents of Allen Park. Dave enjoyed a successful career with the Allen Park Police Department. He was chosen to be a part of the Rotary Group Study Exchange and traveled to Australia. He enjoyed sharing his experiences with local groups after he returned. He loved teaching Control of Civil Disorder at Mercy College. David retired from the Allen Park Police Department as an Inspector in 1995, and moved to Lost Lake Woods Club. He was Deputy Chief of the Alcona Township Volunteer Fire Department, and a medical first responder and EMT for 13 years and he traveled west to train with Homeland Security. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hubbard Lake, where he served as an Elder and with the Men’s Ministry.

Dave is survived by his wife, Kathy, two sons, Keith (Amy) Toro, and Troy (Kristen Jokinen) Toro, seven grandchildren, Emily (Gunnar) Savalox, Payton, Ryan, Katie, and Isabella Toro, and Brooke and Madison Jokinen, one great-granddaughter, Mallory Savalox, and two sisters, Carolyn Domin and Jean LaVigne. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mitzi Toro, and his brother, Albert Toro.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 10 a.m. until the memorial service at noon at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hubbard Lake. Rev. Joseph Llewellyn will officiate. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church to support the trip to the National Youth Gathering, or to the Alcona Township Volunteer Fire Department.
