DONALD WESLEY MEYER

DONALD WESLEY MEYER

Donald Wesley Meyer, a cherished soul known for his remarkable handiness and love for life’s adventures, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, in Alpena, where he first saw the world on March 31, 1955.

Born to Verna (Hanson) and the late Robert Meyer, Don’s early years in Alpena set the stage for a lifetime of dedication to family, work, and the simple joys of tinkering.

A master mechanic by trade, Don spent countless hours under the hoods of cars, fixing and improving with a skill that earned him respect and admiration. His career was marked by a steadfast commitment to excellence and a work ethic that inspired those around him. Don’s hands were rarely still, as he was the quintessential jack of all trades, always ready to lend his expertise to anyone in need.

Beyond the garage, Don’s heart belonged to the open road and the roar of his beloved Harley-Davidson. His passion for motorcycles was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his adventurous spirit and love for travel. Don’s journeys brought him not just to scenic byways but also closer to the friends and family who shared in his wanderlust.

Don’s legacy is lovingly carried on by his mother, Verna; his children, Cole (LeAnn) Meyer and Lisa (Erin) Meyer; his step-son, Jesse Harvey, who preceded him in death; his sister, Donna (Patrick Green) Meyer; his brother, Wesley Meyer; his adored grandchildren, Christopher, Kennedy, Addison and Ireland; as well as his niece, Katie, and nephew, Jeremie. His long-time friend, Geri-Ann Meyer, will also hold dear the memories of their shared times.

Those who knew Don will remember him as the man who could fix anything, a trait that extended beyond the mechanical to the personal, often providing support and solutions in times of need. His presence was a source of stability and strength, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Per his wishes, Don has been taken for cremation with a private family service to take place at a later date. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.
