James Ulric Lixie, 86, of Alpena passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025, at his home.
James was born Nov. 19, 1938, in Alpena to the late Ulric and Lillian (Jeziokowski) Lixie. He served in the United States Army for two years during the Korean Conflict in Germany. On June 29, 1963, he married Gaye Mousseau. James retired as a sheet metal worker from Alpena Heating and Huron Sheet Metal, Local 7, in 1998 after 34 years. He was past president of Alpena Boosters Club and Booster of the Year, St. Anne ushers, vice president of the Alpena Golf Association, active member of All Saints Parish, and Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Gaye; four children, Cindy (Rod) Martin, Debbie Sabourin (Brett Hubers), Dina (Scott) Mousseau, Harold Lixie; son-in-law, Jeff Brower; five grandchildren, Janae (Trevor Hoon) Martin, Broc (Audrey) Martin, Cassandra (Zach) Boensch, Heather Mousseau, Kimberly Mousseau; three great-grandchildren, Owen Martin Finn Hoon, Lyla Martin; sister, Betty Lawler; brother-in-law, Norm Helinski; and several nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his daughter, Terri Brower; infant siblings, Mary Lixie, Jerry Lixie; siblings, Helen Woods, Peggy Stone, Jackie Helinski, Lorraine Lixie, Barb Michaud and Patricia Spalding.
Memorial visitation will take place Friday, March 14, 2025, at Bannan Funeral Home from 2-8 p.m. with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. and military honors at 5 p.m. by Alpena VFW Post 2496. Memorial visitation will continue Saturday at St. Bernard Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. Emmanuel Finnbar officiating.
