June Marie Mills

June Marie LeTourneau was born on June 26, 1930, in Alpena, Mich., to the late Eugene and Bernadette (Brousseau) LeTourneau. When she was 8 years old, the family moved to Detroit. They lived there until 1945. The family moved back to Alpena when World War II ended. June started school at St. Anne’s where she met her future husband, Jerry Mills. They were married on June 16, 1953, at St. Anne’s.

Jerry was serving in the Navy so they lived many different places which included Boston and Brooklyn, where they made lifelong friends. When Jerry was discharged from the Navy, they moved back to Alpena where they built their home together and raised five children.

In their retirement years they had a craft business and traveled all over to craft shows. They spent their winters in Tucson, Ariz. June liked to read and always had a book open.

Her greatest joy was her family, and she loved family getting together when they came home. There was always plenty of meat pie and chocolate cake, their favorites.

June is survived by her husband, Gerald (Jerry) Mills; her five children, James (Peggy) Mills, Thomas (Mary) Mills, Peggy (Brad) Williams, Robert (LuAnn) Mills, Jeanne (Chris) Taratuta; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Sally LeTourneau, Joyce (Richard) Shiemke, Janet Samp and Joni Mills.

She was preceded in death by great-grandson Jayden, and her siblings, Lois Skiba, Donna Compeau, Gerald LeTourneau, and James LeTourneau.

Memorial visitation will take place on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. Aloysius Okpala officiating. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
