Karl Stanley Mustafaga Sr, 86, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025, in Alpena, Michigan.
Karl was born at home to the late Roman (Ray) and Ruth (Montri) Mustafaga on Dec. 7, 1938, in Toledo, Ohio. Karl graduated from Whitmer High School in 1957 where he played football under the nickname of “Moose”. Karl dedicated 37 years of his life to the 180th Fighter Wing, Ohio Air National Guard retiring in 1993 as Senior Master Sergeant of the Motor Pool. Karl’s life was filled with love, adventure, fishing, hunting, and golf. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time at his cottage at Lake of the Woods (Rose Lake) near Coldwater, Michigan. He has spent the last 23 years in Alpena and 20 years in Florida during the winter months. He married Linda Kay Burton on May 7, 1960, who gave him four children.
Karl was preceded in death by the love of his life Linda; brothers Ray, Bernie and William; sister, Donna Nasser; brother-in-law, Nap; sister-in-law, Shirley Mustafaga; along with his grandson, Jordan Clark; and niece, Denise (Nasser) Wright.
He is survived by his beloved wife Sally; his daughters, Michelle (Tim) Poplawski and Kim (Jeff) Clark; sons, Jeff and Karl Jr. (Michelle) Mustafaga. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brandon (Brittney), Kyle (Alex), Troy (Timur), Shane, Taylor (Sawyer), Olivia, Kayle (James), Logen and Morgan (Bishop) as well as nine great-grandchildren along with his brother James, sister-in-law, Leona Mustafaga; Uncle Paul Montri, and many nieces and nephews.
We will miss our dad dearly until we meet again,

Services will be April 5, 2025, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church Toledo, Ohio. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with a funeral mass following at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Francis Speier officiating. Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
Inurnment: St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Temperance, Michigan
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus – Alpena.
