Elmer Edward Degen, 87, of Hubbard Lake, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025, at Besser Living Center in Alpena.
Elmer was born June 6, 1937, in Hubbard Lake, Michigan, to the late Adolf and Martha (Wilke) Degen. After high school, Elmer held several Jobs including running his own business, “Degen Brothers”, working for The Alpena News, and as a handy man. Elmer was always busy working on something. Elmer was also a member of various clubs and organizations such as 50 years in the Lions club, Moose lodge, and Eagles club. Elmer enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and fishing.
Surviving are his daughter, Brenda (Ted) Tolson; Daughter-in-law, JoAnne Degen; three grandchildren, Leanne (Adam) Bell, Tony (Katie) D’Angelo, Crystal (Terry) Dodds; four great-grandchildren Marco and Mariana Cerventes, Donavan Roden, Sophia D’Angelo; great-great grandson, Hudson Cerventes; brother Edwin (Jane) Degen; special friend, Evelyn Alexander; ex-wife, Crystal Markanovich.
Elmer was preceded in death by his daughter, Terry (Martin) Glaser; son, Randy Degen; four siblings, Alfred Degen, Herman Degen, Arnie Degen, Doris Siegert; ex-wife, Roberta Culham.
Memorial visitation will take place Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Hope Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until the memorial service at noon with the Rev Dr. Bryan R. Salminen officiating. Arrangements have been made by the Bannan Funeral Home.
