JEAN I. CHRZAN

Jean I. Chrzan, 97, of Alpena, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at MyMichigan Medical Center – Alpena.
She was born Jan. 15, 1928, the youngest of eleven children, to the late Domicile and Edna (DuPuis) Gagnon and was a lifelong resident of Alpena. Jean attended the Fletcher Dam School, a one room schoolhouse and graduated from St. Anne High School. On Aug. 20, 1949, she married Raymond Chrzan at St. Anne Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 2008. Jean dedicated her life to caring for her family and home. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and the Ladies Sodality.
Jean is survived by her five children, Gail Marshall, Jack (Susan) Chrzan, Carl (Barbara) Chrzan, Kathy (Michael) Romstadt, Susan (Jose Juan) Garrigo; six grandchildren, Heather (Travis) Kirschner, Emily Marshall, Eric (Aimee) Chrzan, Joshua (Danielle) Romstadt, Dr. Kara (Michael) Naberhuis, Maria Ruth; six great-grandchildren, Parker and Sawyer Kirschner, Mason, Tucker, Hunter Chrzan, Levi Naberhuis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her grandson, Nicholas Marshall; five brothers, Floyd, Leo, Roy, Ernest, Joseph; five sisters, Dolores Owens, Dora Smigelski, Nona Huyck, Alta Nensewitz, and Marie (who died in childhood). She was the last of her generation.
Memorial visitation will take place Monday, April 14, 2025, at St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at noon with the Rev. Emmanuel Finbarr officiating. Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
