SHIRLEY JEAN DONAKOWSKI

Shirley Jean Donakowski, 89, of Alpena passed away Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Besser Senior Living Community.

Shirley Jean Bellmore was born March 2, 1936, in Alpena to the late Arlie and Celia (Precord) Bellmore. On Aug. 28, 1954, she married Clarence “Sonny” Donakowski. He preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 1986. Shirley enjoyed gardening, cooking, and baking. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Shirley loved going to the cottage and playing cards.

Surviving are her four children, Nancy Montie, Thomas Donakowski, Kenneth Donakowski, Jeanne (Clyde) Graichen; seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Heather, and Angela Montie, Jessie (Ryan) Reddie, Gina (Chris) Kauffman, Chase (Kaitlyn) Donakowski, Sara Donakowski; four great-grandchildren, Conner, Easton, Hanna, Aubrie; and sister, Carol Vernon.

Shirley was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Bellmore.

Memorial visitation will take place Monday at Bannan Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until the memorial service at noon with Deacon Michael Roy officiating. Thank you to Besser Senior Living and Hospice of Michigan.
