SUSAN JOSEPHINE KIRKWOOD

Susan Josephine Kirkwood, a devoted wife and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and pillar of faith within her community, passed away on April 13, 2025, at the age of 78. Susan’s unwavering faith in God truly guided her life.

As a dedicated and loving wife, mother of three, stepmother of two, grandmother of nine, and great-grandmother of four, Susan instilled her strong values and religious beliefs in her family. She led by example, through her missionary work, praise and worship, leading children’s church and being deeply involved in, and had so much love for, her community. Always gentle, pure in spirit and so much love in her heart for her family, friends, everyone she knew and anyone she met.

Susan was a haven of prayer and support, not just for her family but for countless others in need of guidance and comfort. She was loved by all and will be missed by so many!

Susan is survived by her beloved husband of 24 years, Darrell Kirkwood, her children, Stanley (Kathryn), Stacey and Sandy (Brian), stepchildren Kellie (Curtis) and Sean (Neena), grandchildren Cassie (Charles), Emily, Hanah, Bridgitte, Nicole, Samantha, Sonora, Keegan and Noel, great grandchildren Connor, Cooper, Cameron and Zayn, and sister to Louise, Muriel (Ron), Buzz (Kathy), Mark (Laura), sister-in-law Carol, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brother-in-law Richard and brother Jerry.

A celebration of Susan’s life and faith will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025, at New Life Christian Fellowship in Alpena, MI.
