Mental Health Map a great resource for the community
Taking care of your mental health is vital, and we’re happy to see that Partners in Prevention thinks so, too.
This week, Partners in Prevention announce that it created a map that shows users mental health resources in the area, Lifestyles Editor Darby Hinkley reported on Monday. The Mental Health Map officially launched on Monday.
When visiting the website, users are walked through a series of questions pertaining to their current situation and it provides resources available in the county for them to consider.
The map currently only shows resources in Alpena County, but Partners in Prevention hopes to have maps for Presque Isle, Montmorency, and Alcona counties up and running by this summer.
Years of research and collaboration with Partners in Prevention’s community partners helped bring everything together. Those partners include Alpena County Emergency Medical Services, Alpena County Sherriff, City of Alpena Police Department, Northeast Michigan Community Mental Health, Alcona Health Center, MyMichigan Medical Center, Thunder Bay Community Health Services, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Catholic Human Services, dozens of local therapists, and more.
Not only is this map a positive resource, but it also shows how the community is set to help others within it. We’re always glad to see that people are looking out for their neighbors in one way or another.
The map is a great resource for all situations, whether it’s time-sensitive or more of a preventative nature. It also has valuable information about places and protocols that people may not have been aware of before.
It’s things like this that can make a major difference in someone’s life, and we hope that people utilize it to better their mental health and more.
