I don’t see the U.S. as a third-world country
Recently, two very special holidays were celebrated across our country — Memorial Day and the Fourth of July. In my home, both brought a considerable sense of pride in this country we do call HOME.
But, apparently, this same sense of pride seems to have been lost by one of our political candidates … Donald J. Trump. He consistently refers to his birthplace as a third-world county and does NOT seem to find anything that has been accomplished over the past several years as worthy of his acknowledgment. Such things as the lowest unemployment rate in decades, job creation at an all-time high, infrastructure improvements occurring across our country, violent crime reduced to a record low. The list is long and has been fact-checked. But the candidate does not stop there with his negative outlook … he refers to our men and women in military service as “suckers and losers!”
Well, as one voter this fall, I do not see America as a third-world country and I certainly do not consider a person willing to give their lives for this country as either a “sucker” or a “loser.”
Voters will be very clearly faced with judging the character and values of the two respective candidates for the highest office in our country in November. Yes, we are not a perfect union, but does a vindictive, power-hungry, womanizing felon with six bankruptcies on his record who views our country as “third world” fit with your concept of the future of our home? I hope not.
DON NEWPORT,
